Set up as a public university in 1978, Changzhou University (CZU) is jointlyfunded by Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government and three biggest Chinese petrol corporations (CNPC, Sinopec and CNOOC).

CZU provides excellent facilities in two campuses (Ke Jiaocheng campus and Xi Taihu campus) with an area of over 130 hectares. CZU offers a wide range of programs in 26 schools, covering Bachelor’s, Master’s and Doctoral programs with a multi-level scientific research and social service system. Currently, CZU has an enrollment of more than 30,000 full-time students, including over 400 international students. In 2024, CZU is ranked 149th in the Best Chinese Universities Rankings (BCUR) released by ShanghaiRanking. Four disciplines (Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering and Environmental Ecology) are among world top 1% by the ESI.

CZU started to enroll international students in 2009. It has been awarded six times by Jiangsu Department of Education for its excellence in the education of international students. In recent years, the number of international students has been increasing rapidly. In 2024, there are more than 400 international students of degree and non-degree programs.
